Role Purpose
The Business Development Manager is responsible for building new business segments within selected RTP applications across Food & Beverage, Retail, and/or Intralogistics. This is a true hunter and market-builder role: relentlessly pursuing new customers, building relationships from zero, converting pilots into recurring business, and turning validated customer needs into scalable RTP solutions. Primary objective: create new, recurring revenue streams.
Key Responsibilities
1. New Business Development
- Identify and prioritise high-potential customers and applications
- Open doors at operations, engineering, and procurement level
- Build trust-based relationships from zero
- Drive pilots, trials, and negotiations through to signed orders
- Convert first projects into repeatable, scalable business
2. Market & Application Building
- Continuously explore the market for unmet needs and structural gaps
- Map specific use cases: automation flows, pooling interfaces, food-grade applications, retail backroom logistics
- Identify repeatable application clusters — not one-off custom projects
- Pragmatic field validation, not theoretical market studies
3. Translate Customer Needs into Product Requirements
- Gather detailed functional and operational requirements from customers
- Translate needs into specifications: dimensions, load capacities, automation compatibility, hygiene and compliance
- Work with the Product Design team to ensure feasible, cost-disciplined, scalable solutions
- Ensure what is developed reflects validated market demand
4. Process Auditing & Standards Compliance
- Maintain a structured opportunity pipeline with disciplined prioritisation
- Avoid low-margin, one-off customisation — focus on scalable opportunities
- Provide clear feedback on competitive dynamics and win/loss patterns
Your Profile
- 5–10+ years of proven B2B hunting and new business development experience
- Demonstrated ability to build a customer base from zero
- Background in packaging, intralogistics, automation, food, or retail supply chains
- Comfortable engaging both technical and commercial stakeholders
- High resilience, disciplined follow-up, and strong closing capability
- Self-driven and comfortable operating without heavy support structure
Working Conditions
- Time split between a climate-controlled quality laboratory and the production floor
- May require standing for extended periods and occasional lifting
- Works within a 24/7 production environment—flexibility may be required
